Jesus Wants to Heal Your Heart
One of the things the Lord is doing right now in His people is a DEEP healing of wounds. When we receive Jesus as our Lord and Savior, we are a new creation in Him. But often, even after that, we don't live out the fullness of the freedom and blessing that's in Him because of wounds that are still in our hearts and minds.
Because of traumatic events we've been through, lies we've believed about ourselves or others, labels that have been put on us and basically, everything the world unloads on us from the time we are born, we can stay buried underneath a mountain of garbage (whether we're consciously aware of it or not).
But, the Lord is done with His people being bound in chains! He wants to heal their hearts and bring them into the fullness of the abundant life He died for them to have. And He is eager for them to understand how He does it, so they can lean into it and not fight Him on it!
That might sound strange... why would we fight against God helping us? But, we do (I did it too) because often when He is setting us free, it doesn't feel good. The process hurts. The "burning away" is no joke. So, even though we don't want the old habits, the old ways of thinking, the addictions or the false beliefs, it can sometimes feel easier to just stay in them because coming out of them can feel scary.
But, the Lord wants you to know, you DON'T have to do it alone. He wants to guide you every step of the way and help you find your way out. He already sees you as His beautiful, perfect creation underneath all of the mess life has heaped on top of you. So now, He wants to take it off, piece by piece, so you can shine brilliantly again the way you were meant to.
I actually did a video on my YouTube channel back in the fall about heart healing, but I will probably do a whole teaching (either in a blog post or live stream) around it too because I've realized it's something that many (if not, most) people aren't even aware of. (Because it's not usually taught in mainstream church!) I wouldn't even have known what it was if the Holy Spirit hadn't taught me about it in my quiet time with Him.
In fact, right smack dab in the middle of Him walking me through it, He referred me to Psalm 147:3 so I could understand what it was He was doing... "healing the brokenhearted" and "binding up their wounds." This IS how He does that and how He transforms your mind (Eph. 4:23) in the process.
Again, I will probably do a full teaching about this subject... but, in the meantime, here are a few main points to focus on:
The Lord will usually use an event or situation in your current life to address an issue He wants to heal (even if the original wound was from many years ago). I call these "echoes" because even though you may be actually experiencing a real issue in the present time (or you may only be perceiving that you are), they are usually "repeating" something that happened in your past. Which is why it acts as a "trigger" for you.
You can usually identify these things because you immediately go into a strong reaction - whether it's really mad, really sad, really frustrated, really impatient, really scared. Whatever it is... you go from 0 to 100 in like 30 seconds. It's probably hitting on a tender spot, so the faster you can recognize that and lean into it (instead of avoiding it like your flesh will want you to do), the better.
The Lord always wants to go back to the ORIGINAL place the wound happened or the false belief first took place. Because that's where He wants to "shut the door." All the other occurrences after that are just the enemy's way of parading in and out of that door whenever he wants to taunt you. For example, if you feel like you've believed your whole life that you're unlovable, He wants to go back to the moment you FIRST believed that... what happened?
What made you think that was true? When did you first BELIEVE and AGREE with that?
Once you allow yourself to "go there" in your quiet time with Him (using a journal helps tremendously!), you'll need to be as objective as you can possibly be in looking at what He's showing you. This is especially true if He's showing you things like pride or a critical spirit that need to be repented of and released, because it can be easy to get offended if you're approaching it in your flesh. Remember, God only corrects you out of LOVE. So, He is trying to set you free, even if it doesn't feel like it at the time!
Jesus is the ultimate life coach because He is all about questions! (Just look how often He answers people in the Bible with a question!) So, when you're walking through your healing with Him, be ready to answer a lot of questions. That's what helps you to go deeper and find the "root" of the things He's trying to dig out and get rid of.
For example, if you are focusing on the issue of not being able to receive good things from people, you'd ask yourself...
"Why? Why do I feel that way?" And then, He might show you it's because your mom told you as a child, that you should never receive anything from anyone.
So then, you keep going with that... "How did that make me feel?" Like if I did receive good things, I was "bad." And that I needed to do everything on my own.
So then, all the responsibility was on you... "How did that feel?" Frustrating, exhausting, overwhelming.
"And, how does that affect my relationship with God?" It puts me in a conflict because I know He WANTS to give me good things, but I can't receive them because deep down, I believe it's "bad" to do so.
This is just an example. But, the point is to show you how you progress through analyzing WHY you feel the way you do and actually THINKING about your thoughts and feelings (instead of just automatically accepting them). Because as you do, the Holy Spirit will uncover the falsehoods and show you where you agreed with them and started believing them to be true.
SO THAT... He can heal those old wounds, help you forgive where you need to and then kick those lying spirits to the curb once and for all!
DOOR CLOSED.
WOUND BOUND.
HEART HEALED! 🙌
