What is Going On Right Now With the Prophets? The Missing Piece!
This morning, I was watching a video where the woman who was speaking said something about how false teachers and prophets were being exposed in this hour and how those we had exalted were being brought down from their positions.
As soon as the words finished coming out of her mouth, the Holy Spirit suddenly prompted me “out of the blue” to go check on a particular person and see what was going on with them.
I’m not going to say who it was, but it was one of the “major” prophetic voices that I had seen quickly backtrack and go back on their former prophecies about the election. In fact, it was actually this person’s reversal that brought forth the first word that the Holy Spirit poured out of me on January 7th.
So, without even really thinking too much into it, I flipped over to Facebook to see what the latest “news” was with this person. And immediately, my stomach dropped.
Not only was this person still very much in reversal mode to their earlier prophecies, but was now also outright declaring that all the people who had believed them in the first place were horribly “sick” and deceived. Basically, that anyone who was still believing God to move was utterly confused, lost and according to them… purposefully not wanting to hear truth.
I was shocked.
Not just because this is one of the LAST people I would’ve ever expected this from. But, also because it was another example of exactly what the Lord’s been warning about - the exact opposite of truth. That the very ones who are confused and deceived will be declaring that the ones who are standing on truth are in fact, the deceived ones.
And again, just like that… the Holy Spirit started speaking. No… booming.
The reason these prophets, pastors and teachers are being exposed right now is because something is missing. Something very important. He had already been giving me whispers about this for weeks, but now, He is tying it all together quite clearly.
As I have talked about before, God is both truth and love.
He is BOTH.
You cannot deliver a word from the Lord that is all truth with no love. And likewise, cannot deliver a word from the Lord that is all love and no truth. Because if you do either one, you’re not truly sharing the heart of the Lord. Because He is both.
And the only way for someone to do that - to share a word from the Lord, or more accurately, to share what is on the Lord’s heart - is to know Him. You can’t effectively share something that you don’t understand fully yourself. So, if you haven’t come to a deep place of understanding both God’s truth and His love for yourself, then that’s going to come forth in how you present Him to others.
This isn’t just too true for pastors, preachers and prophets. It’s true for all of us.
The way we perceive God is the way in which we will present Him to others. So, needless to say, the Lord is cleaning house to make sure that He’s being represented accurately by those who truly know Him. At the very deepest level.
Think of it this way, when you know someone well - say, your best friend - you know what they’re like. You know their personality, their behavior, how they speak and act. So then, when someone tells you something about them, you are able to quickly respond by either saying “Oh yea… that totally sounds like her!” Or “No way! She would never say something like that!”
Because you know them.
And when you know someone, you feel confident in understanding how they think and act. You are familiar with them and who they are at heart. So if you know someone who is a huge animal lover and you hear a story about them abusing an animal, you can quickly dismiss that as a lie, because you know them and know that would never be something they would do.
The same is true for us and the Lord.
Jesus doesn’t just want us to know about Him. He wants us to know Him. So, we can actually say these same things about Him - “Yes! That’s my ABBA Daddy!” Or “No way, my Lord would never talk like that!”
And one of the things that’s getting exposed (bigtime) right now is how many in the Body of Christ don’t actually know Him.
In the word the Lord had me release on January 10th, He talked about how He wants His children to have a revelation of His love and goodness. To come out of religion and works-based thinking and have a new revelation of His undeserved goodness and faithfulness.
And this word goes right along with that.
When you know someone, you have a relationship with them. It is something that has been established over time and with intentional effort. And the result is a foundation of trust. And when you trust someone, you believe what they say. When they make a promise to you, you trust them to keep it.
Again, this is supposed to be how it is with the Lord. But unfortunately, right now, is not the case with many believers.
As always, the Lord has given me practical examples from my own life to illustrate this (Jesus loves His parables!). If you’ve read my posts or watched my videos before, you probably have already heard about some of the things He’s done to train me to trust Him - had me drive my car with no gas in it, had me tithe $135 when I only had $165 to my name, had me go on a 6-day cross-country road trip with nothing but 83 cents and the list goes on and on. But, what He was doing through these things was teaching me to trust what He said over what I saw.
And it worked. Because just like in our human relationships, as someone continues to prove themselves trustworthy, you begin to trust them more and more.
In fact, the Lord did such a profound work in me (in case you don’t know - I grew up in religion and then spent a good deal of my young adult life not wanting anything to do with anything related to God), that somewhere along the way, I had just come to believe that once God said something, that was it. It was a done deal.
If He said it, I believed Him.
Which of course, is what the Bible tells us…
“God is not human, that he should lie, not a human being, that he should change his mind. Does he speak and then not act? Does he promise and not fulfill?” -Numbers 23:19
But, just because we can quote it from Scripture, doesn’t mean we actually believe it, deep down in our hearts.
But, the Lord is bringing us back to this place. This is the place of “childlike faith.” This is the “return to Eden” that the Holy Spirit’s been talking about for awhile now. Because that is how we were created to live with God before the fall - when Eve doubted God and stopped believing Him at His word.
In that one moment, she went from just innocently believing God and accepting His words at face value to doubting His goodness and wondering if there was more she needed to know.
And look where that got all of us.
But now, the Lord wants to take us back to that place of innocence and freedom where we truly believe that He is good, that He is for us and that we can take Him at His word. Period.
And this is what He’s trained me in. Which again, is precisely why I can do these “crazy faith” things that others may find outlandish from the outside looking in (like driving across the country with no money or gas). But, it’s because once the Lord says something to me, I believe Him. Period.
Again, let me stress… this is not some supernatural ability on my part. This is a work of His Spirit within me and it took a hot minute for us to get here. I had to go through some craaaaazzzy “steps” along the way. But, the more we step out in childlike faith and trust Him, the more He can prove that He is worthy to be trusted. And the faster the whole process goes.
So, now back to what all this has to do with prophecy.
When you trust someone, you believe them. Plain and simple. So, when we receive a word from the Lord… it does NOT have to be this tumultuous roller coaster ride of “Will He do it or won’t He?” Where we go back and forth and up and down in our emotions.
It can be that simple - He said it, so it’s happening.
But, the only way for that to happen is for you trust Him completely. And the only way for you to trust Him completely is to know Him. Really know Him.
Because then, there wouldn’t even be a roller coaster to “ride” on! Then, it wouldn’t matter one bit what people said. Or what you see with your natural eyes. Because it never was about that in the first place!
All it was about was what God said.
Again, I have numerous examples of this in my own personal life. Where God has told me something will happen and then for awhile, things will appear to be the exact opposite of that in the natural. But, my reaction is always “Oh well, doesn’t matter! God said it, so it will happen!”
And I truly mean it.
Which is exactly what has protected me during all of the turmoil in the world over the last year.
Like I’ve talked about before, I have not had any fear or worry about the “virus” AT ALL. To the point where, like I’ve tried to explain, it just was never even real to me. I didn’t have to consciously try to not be worried or afraid. I just sort of existed “outside” of it. And for the longest time, I didn’t know how to explain that.
But, the Holy Spirit explained it to me. And said that is what He’s talking about when He says “resting in Him.” And what He’s been referring to when He keeps talking about these 2 “realities” we will have moving forward and how you will basically experience whichever one you choose to believe.
I was never effected by any of the ups and downs of the world (the news reports, the statistics, the changing rules, etc.) because way back in March of 2020, my Father spoke to me clearly and simply and said “Do not change anything about your life. Go about your life as normal.”
And that was it. Plain and simple.
And little did I know, how much was going to end up changing after that. But, all I knew was my Daddy told me not to change anything about my life, so I believed Him. And that’s what I did. Period. Based on His words to me and nothing else.
And that is why I had such peace and ease throughout the whole thing.
Because it was never based on anything I saw or heard. So those things could never affect me. And the same has been true with this election situation in America. Way back in November, the Lord spoke clearly to me and told me flat-out what He was going to do.
So, that’s all I needed to know. Period.
So again, I have had no fear, worry or confusion over any of the things that have been transpired and they don’t sway my position at all because my position (and peace) were never based on what I saw or what I was told. It’s always been based solely on what my Father spoke to me and that’s it. Period.
That’s how I can stand boldly and speak boldly about things when other people think it looks/sounds “crazy.” Because it doesn’t matter to me how it looks or sounds.
God said it, so it will be. End of story.
But, this is what’s missing today. Not only from many of those who say they are speaking for the Lord, but also for many believers in general.
The relationship.
The trust.
The foundation.
The true sense of knowing God and His heart.
The pure, simple belief in what He says.
Because it should be just that - simple.
I asked the Holy Spirit to give me an example I could use to further illustrate the point and He gave me this one about a cake. (Maybe I was just craving cake coming off of a sugar fast, but hey, it works.)
Say, you need to buy a cake for a party and you have a friend who is a baker. He is a friend of yours, someone you’ve known for awhile, so you trust him. You go to his bakery and pick out a cake and when you ask him what the flavor is inside, he says red velvet. Hurray! That’s your favorite. So, you buy it and take it home.
But, there are a few days until the party and in that time, when you start telling people about the cake, they start making little comments. Are you sure it’s red velvet inside? How do you know since it’s covered in frosting? Did you check it with a toothpick? It could be anything in there!
Then someone else mentions how they’ve never seen him bake a red velvet cake before. He always sticks to chocolate and vanilla. So, you might’ve gotten it wrong because they’ve been around his bakery awhile and they’ve never seen a red velvet cake there… ever.
And then there was the woman who said she heard on the news that there was a nationwide recall on red food coloring, so she seriously doubts he would’ve made a red velvet cake in the middle of such an unsafe time.
The chorus of voices starts to get so loud… you know, maybe you should go get another cake just in case or be prepared to serve your guests something else if it turns out to be a different flavor when you cut it.
You would have a choice on how to react in this. You could let their comments and suggestions make you waiver. Or let the fact that you can’t actually see the cake beneath the frosting make you doubt.
Or you could just take the baker at his word because he’s your friend and you know him. Simple as that.
What’s being exposed right now - the missing piece - is a shaky foundation. That’s where the unbelief, doubt, fear, worry, double-mindedness and confusion come from. Because when you have a firm foundation, it’s just that - firm. So, you can’t be shaken. Even if everything around you is.
Twice now in the past week, I have said a sentence out loud and felt the Holy Spirit drop so heavily on it, I could barely get it out in one try. That what the Lord had shown me is that it was my relationship with Him that has kept me safe and peaceful. Through covid, through the race conflicts, through the election drama. What kept me calm and protected through it all was my trust in Him.
And it’s what He’s bringing His whole Church into now.
Moving forward, we have to trust the Lord at His word. We have to remember His power and His sovereignty beyond what we see. We have to trust that He is still for us and with us. And we have to believe what He says.
It’s the only way we will survive.
A couple weeks ago, while talking with someone at church, they made a comment that has stuck with me. They asked me if I thought I was just prophetic or actually called to the office of prophet and I said, I knew it was the latter because God had outright told me (much to my dismay at the time!). To which, he then responded how I seemed so nice and smiled a lot, which was surprising to him because he thought all prophets were serious and angry.
At the time, I just laughed and said “Well, maybe God is changing the face of prophecy.”
But now, I really feel it in my spirit - God is changing the face of prophecy.
Revelation 19:10 says, “the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.” So, basically prophecy should testify about Jesus. To testify means to give evidence or proof of something. So, prophecy should prove who Jesus was/is. It should lend evidence to His character. Not contradict it.
So, it then begs the question… if we know Jesus is forgiving, He is graceful, He is patient, He is loving, He is basically freedom incarnate… then why would prophets be all anger and brimstone? To the point that someone actually has the thought that you can’t be a prophet and smile a lot?
Something is definitely wrong with that picture.
I’m sorry, but last I checked… the Spirit of the Lord is joyful.
“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” -Romans 15:13
“You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.” -Psalm 16:11
“These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full.” -John 15:11
“But let all who take refuge in you rejoice; let them ever sing for joy, and spread your protection over them, that those who love your name may exult in you.” -Psalm 5:11
And we’ve now come full circle.
Jesus is truth and love. That’s who He is. He tells the truth, He doesn’t leave people in their sin or bondage. But, He is also love. Unbelievable, unimaginable, unearnable agape love. He looked at the very ones who were literally taking His life and asked the Father to please forgive them.
That’s Jesus.
So, if we’re prophesying or representing something else, then we’re not representing Jesus. We’re not testifying the character of Jesus. We’re not witnessing to the truth of who He is. And that’s a problem.
But, it’s also what God is dealing with right now. It’s why He’s taking down the “Saul’s” and bringing up the “David’s.” Because as we all know, David was a man after God’s own heart (1 Sam. 13:14).
David was not perfect. He messed up. A lot! But, it was never about perfection then and it’s not about perfection now either. It is and has always been about a heart posture.
A heart that is surrendered, yielded and submitted to God. That trusts Him, believes Him, loves Him and is devoted to Him. One that recognizes the goodness and faithfulness of God. And most importantly, one that knows Him.
After I wrote down everything the Lord wanted me to share in this word, I got up from my desk and was walking around, doing a few things and noticed I was singing a song. Just like the “Mack the Knife” thing from the other day (I’m like Bumblebee, I know.). And again, the Holy Spirit nudged me to realize what I was singing.
Slip sliding away… slip sliding away…
Ugh. I knew right away what He was referring to. But, when I looked up the lyrics, it only became more clear:
Slip sliding away, slip sliding away
You know the nearer your destination
The more you're slip sliding awayGod only knows, God makes his plan
The information’s unavailable to the mortal man
We work our jobs collect our pay
Believe were gliding down the highway
When in fact we’re slip sliding awaySlip sliding away, slip sliding away
You know the nearer your destination
The more you're slip sliding away
This is a time of separation between the wheat and the tares. This is when hearts are being exposed. And just like the Bible says, there will be a great falling away of many who called themselves believers.
But, even though there are false prophets and false teachers (and false believers) being exposed right now, there’s also going to be a great revival that comes out of this. Some whose hearts are being exposed will be driven to repentance and restoration with the Lord.
As their true hearts are shown to them, they will come out of the fake belief they were in before and come into a new level of intimacy and freedom with the Lord. Old bondages will be broken off, deceptions will be removed and wounds will be healed.
Like the Lord had me share in several words already, there has to be an exposure in order for things to be changed. Things have to appear “dead” in order to be revived and resurrected.
And that is exactly what He is doing now.
He is exposing the areas where His people don’t believe Him. Where they don’t know Him. And He is getting rid of the shepherds who have led His people astray.
“You have not strengthened the weak or healed the sick or bound up the injured. You have not brought back the strays or searched for the lost. You have ruled them harshly and brutally. Therefore, you shepherds, hear the word of the Lord: As surely as I live, says the Sovereign Lord, you abandoned my flock and left them to be attacked by every wild animal. And though you were my shepherds, you didn’t search for my sheep when they were lost. You took care of yourselves and left the sheep to starve. Therefore, you shepherds, hear the word of the Lord. This is what the Sovereign Lord says: I now consider these shepherds my enemies, and I will hold them responsible for what has happened to my flock. I will take away their right to feed the flock, and I will stop them from feeding themselves. I will rescue my flock from their mouths; the sheep will no longer be their prey.” -Ezekiel 34:4,7-10
The Lord Himself is coming to rescue His people.
He is restoring the truth of who He is and bringing His people back into a true relationship with Him.
Back into a place of belief. A place of childlike faith and trust.
And a place of resting in Him.
